Darcie & Lucian

Sat May 19, 2007, 8:38 AM
YAY! New dolls~ <3 <3

I tried as best I could to make them like I imagined... but of course they're not perfect ^^
I love them nonetheless.

"Darcie" meaning dark and "Lucian" meaning light. I think it suits them.
Their uniforms came out pretty well too, although, the stripes were supposed to be plaid. (I couldn't find the right plaid fabric -_-;;)

Oh, and Benson! I got him at the thrift store for 99 cents.
Lovely dog.

It's really good to be home.

Let's Begin!

Sat May 12, 2007, 8:01 PM
Summer is finally here!

I can't believe I've accumulated so much junk! Organizing it all will take forever, although I did get a lot of it done today...

I can't wait to really get started on my planned summer projects ^^
I have so many things I want to work on.

In any case, I'm happy~

Oh, and a new one in the gallery to kick off the summer!

Losing My Mind

Wed Apr 25, 2007, 4:29 PM
I must be losing my mind because I spent $600 on a doll.

When I first started getting into bjds I was kinda creeped out by the 1/3scale 60cm dolls, but the more I looked at them and thought about them the more I got used to them, and then I started entertaining the idea that maybe I'd like to do a faceup for one of 'em, and then I started to have the feeling they weren't so bad. I still thought $600 wasn't worth it...

until I saw the DIM Achernar.
I fell head over heels and lost my mind.
I say it must've been love at first sight <3

I have this bad habit of becoming impulsive and wanting things and not being appeased until I get it. It was like that for the Roomba, the Wacom, the laptop, the phone, the mp3 player, the snow boots, the...

I tired to resist. Of course I couldn't rationalize spending $600. (It's the second most expensive thing I've felt impulsive about topped only by the laptop and then followed by the tablet.) I talked to everyone about my ridiculous urge to spend $600 on a DOLL. They told me I'd better not. They told me I was a fool. I called my mom for some more sound advice, and she told me:

"I know $600 is a lot of money, but don't let that get in the way of your passions." (I <3 MOM)

I was flabbergasted and more that that I felt many warm fuzzy feelings about the wonderfullnicity of mothers. I think she was feeling guilty about "not having fostered my artistic ability." I suppose she felt that they might have forced me to become and engineer and not some artsy-fartsy designer or whatever because of hyped expectations... of course I reassured her by telling her that I do have superior analytical thinking skills in addition to my natural creative ones. I mean, whose daughter does she think I am *wink wink*

With that encouragement, I sucked it up and shelled out the $600 and ordered the DIM Achernar. So all I have left to do now is wait.

They say he'll be here in about a month.

I uploaded a rough concept sketch of 성운, "Nebula" in Korean, as a scrap. (That's also where I went wrong... I shouldn't have thought up the perfect name for him before I even definatively decided to purchase him... I must have known in my heart of hearts that he'd be mine eventually)

so... today's moral?
$600 is a small price to pay for happiness and peace of mind.

First Upload

Fri Mar 30, 2007, 6:40 PM
I've finally gotten around to uploading something!
I admit it's taken a long time, but now is better than never.

I named my first 1/6 dollfie "Marie".
She's some crazy mix of French courtesan and Colonial beauty.
I'm a proud mama. ^^

I'll get around to getting some more creative stuff done... eventually -_-;;;
It's a long term goal.
Let's not rush things.

If I ever finish _______________ I'll post that...
but at this point that seems like it'll be a long time coming.

I want summer vacation!
